Winslow, 2/15/00 --8/14/10

Dear Friends,

Sadly, Winslow passed away, quietly in his sleep, on Aug. 14.

Winslow was a big, happy boy, right up to the end. He loved life and he loved humans. His adoption of us changed our lives, forever. We learned so much from him. We are so honored to be his people and to have shared his life and be blessed by his wisdom. We spent a lot of time laughing with Winslow. He was our light.

Winslow stayed with us through our trip across the country, through getting us to our new home and he didn't leave until we were settled into the routine that he set up for us. He knew this was the final destination for all of us. We are devastated by his passing, but comforted by the knowledge that he is out there, somewhere, happy and whole and watching over us as he always did.

Winslow left this life as he lived it, with the calm and dignity that was just Winslow.

Winslow earned a lot of money for his charities while he was with us. Please stay tuned. These charities need money now more than ever and Winslow left us with some special memories to share. His legacy of giving is not gone and we are certain that he would want us to continue.

In the meantime, if you have a few dollars to donate, Winslow's charities (OSU, cancer research and Greyhound Angel Network) could sure use a donation.

Winslow's BIG Adventure

We made it!
Winslow traveled very well across the country. He had wonderful big beds in some good dog friendly hotels.
He tested the beds in Knoxville, Little Rock, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque, and Flagstaff.

When we told him that they named this town after him, Winslow pranced around like he owned it. He visited merchants and greeted people on the street. Even though he was tired, he was very happy to see his town.

Now, we are living in Flagstaff, and Winslow's new home will be an earthship that is off the grid, on 20 acres. He's been going out there on weekends as we work on it. He loves this new place. It's cool and he can get around with no stairs. I wonder how he's going to like the new cat. That's a story for another day.

Winslow's Milestone!

Greetings!

Tomorrow (7/3/10) is a big day for Winslow. He is now 3.5 years cancer free!

We are celebrating with ice cream and a new toy!

Next saturday, the journey west begins.

Winslow wishes everyone a happy 4th and good health.

Please don't light firecrackers if your dog or your neighbors dogs are frightened. That's just not nice.

Winslow's BIG Adventure!

Greetings,

Winslow's shop is currently CLOSED. This isn't a bad thing. Winslow is moving WEST!
Yes, we are moving to Northern Arizona. Winslow is about to take a 5 day road trip across the US. He will be moving into a small apartment for a few months while the finishing touches are being put on his new house.

During the move and acclimation process, Winslow will continue posting here,with pictures and commentary in his own words.

When the dust has settled and all is going smoothly, he hopes the inspiration of the west will have him designing more goods for the shop.

As you can see, Winslow is very busy celebrating the holidays early. He's already opening packages, lighting candles, singing songs, etc. He believes every day is a holiday and he gets particularly excited about it from November thru February. I think we might all be better off if we did the same.

The POOP BAG RAFFLE IS OVER!

Yes, that's right! We have a winner! Her name is Robin and she's from Canada! If you know her, please congratulate her on the big win!

The poop bag fell today, October 7, 2009. Robin chose Oct. 12, 2009.... very close!

The poop bag was there this morning, but FINALLY, the high winds were just too much for it!

By the time I came home from swimming, it was gone.

I'm glad to see it go, but happy that it raised 195. to help the hounds.

Thanks to all who chose dates! You are all very special and during times of hardship you came through and really helped the hounds!

My mom is going to do a farewell tribute to the poopbag when she comes home from her trip. You can start looking for it after Oct. 20. I hope to play a part in that as well!

Summer Update

Good Morning!

It's been a wild summer of ups and downs. Winslow had a tumor on his toe which is now gone, healed, and not coming back. He tested positive for Lyme and did the whole medication thing. Fortunately he wasn't bothered by it and is back to his normal self, swimming, painting and supervising life here at home. Today, he's on the deck with his houseguests from England, sipping tea and sharing stories.

Winslow's Collection Fleece Jackets!--Poopbag Raffle Continues.

Hey Everyone,

As we all know, Winslow is always looking for new ways to support his charities.. Well, now he's teamed up with Carol of http://www.greyhoundfleecejackets.com/!!

Carol has designed a line of fleece jackets for the hounds based on Winslow's favorite polar fleece! We are happy to announce that 5.00 from each jacket will be split between GAN, OSU, and GAF-(we share with GAF because Carol belongs to that group and it wouldn't be fair of Winslow to take all the money for his own causes.. Sharing is a good thing!)

Now, you may think 5.00 isn't a lot of money, but these jackets are very reasonable, making it a substantial donation on the part of Carol, who is doing all the work! Poopbag in the Tree Continues

As of Feb.21, 2009 at 5:11 PM. The poopbag remains in the tree. This hearty bag has survived high wind, rain and snow and still it hangs on. Poopbag is Still in the Tree. GAFL. Raffle continues!

I am proud to report that as of 1:13 pm on Feb 18, the poopbag remains in the tree. As was posted on GT, we had snow and rain this morning (photo above taken at about 9:AM today) and are expecting high winds for the next 2 days. Get those tickets, pick the date..There is a paypal button below (on the previous post) Cost is 1.00 The bag is getting a little shabby, blowing around a little more and appears to have lost some of it's "contents". There also appears to be a small rip at the top.

Greyhound Adoptions of Florida is very close to Winslow's heart. They don't blink if a dog needs an amputation. Poopbag in the Tree- New Raffle!

Hello Everyone!
On Feb 12, we were having very high winds. 50 mph. gusts. During the night, Winslow had to go out, and since he was too far from the poop disposal can, we brought it home and left it on the side of the house. The next morning, I thought I was seeing a hawk or an eagle. Nope, it is Winslow's poop bags. Well, I felt bad for littering, but the bags are about 5 stories up, so I'm not going up there. They are biodegradable bags, so eventually they will disappear and the poop will fall to earth. Then I thought why shouldn't this be something GOOD! You know, lemons, lemonade.. that whole thing.I spoke to Winslow and we came up with a POOP RAFFLE! For $1.00 you can buy a date that the poop bag will disappear from the tree. The raffle will end when the bag falls or is otherwise removed from the tree. Whoever has the right date will win a 4 x 6 inch WINSLOW ORIGINAL PAINTING, as shown below.

Pretty good for just a dollar, right? In the event that more than one person picks the right date, there will be a random drawing (names in a hat) for the winner. As always, 100% of Winslow's money goes to charity. (GAN and OSU).

Winslow's new notecards!

FINALLY! The new notecards are here! Same price- $10 for all 5 with shipping thrown in by Winslow's mom and dad. There is a paypal button at the bottom of this post. (If you click on the photo, it gets really big so you can read everything).

NOTE: The card with the painting has a small color picture inside of Winslow creating that painting. It's the same photo that appears on Winslow's 3 panel photo, below.

Winslow's good news: He went to the vet for his check up.. ALL CLEAR. Winslow has been cancer free for 18 months. We are all very happy! So happy in fact, that I (Winslow's mom) made a little slide show. I used music that could probably get me into trouble if I posted the link publicly. But, it was just so good, I had to do it. SO, if anyone wants to see Winslow's slide show, you can email me at glynisberger@hotmail.com and I'll send it to you. No fees, you don't have to buy anything. It's just a cute little thing I did... (GAN and OSU have nothing to do with it and didn't approve it). Now, that should be enough with the disclaimers.

OTHER GOOD NEWS! Marilyn's Auction is now up! There is a painting by Winslow in the auction. Someone paid $1200. for it last year (Yep, $1200.) had it framed and DONATED it back to the auction. I (Winslow's mom) also have a painting in the auction called "Last Margarita"... Winslow also donated a package that has notecards, postcards and a stuffie.

They really look better than the photo).
